LOOKING FOR A USEFUL ONLINE TOOL?

desc

Look no further! Here's a collection of links and services that I use all the time for web design and editing. They're fast, they're free, and you can have them right now if you want. Just click the links!

(These aren't exactly tools, but they deserve a mention; if you're not already using firefox, DOWNLOAD IT. It's SO useful, and infinitely customizable. At the very least run uBlock Origin on it. I haven't seen any ads in almost a year. It's phenomenal.)

Will be updated with more tools as I find them, so check back to see what I've brought to the table!

VIRUSTOTAL

OH MY GOD. I SWEAR by VirusTotal. Anything I'm downloading, any website I visit that seems off, etc; all of it gets run through here. I run the "more than three, leave it be" rule, but it's up to you to determine how comfortable you are with a site's contents. Definitely a lifesaver.

ONLINE PYTHON EDITOR

Super useful for writing quick n' dirty code for simple purposes, i.e. doing a "dropped items generator" for a text-based DnD campaign. It works great-- just store your code somewhere else, because it doesn't save it.

WHEEL OF NAMES

Kind of self-explanatory. Good for making quick and random decisions, like what shitty movie we're going to watch to torture ourselves with next. Clean layout and easy to use.

Y2MATE

Youtube to MP3 (or MP4!) converter. Super clean, super fast, and ad-free. I use this all the time for movie nights and getting copies of Barbie: Island Princess for my friend's flight to Oregon.

IMAGE RESIZER

Exactly what it says on the tin. It works great at resizing images to make them smaller or larger. I use this all the time when editing images for web design or RenPy projects. Always a good thing to have in your back pocket.

BASE64

If you know, you know.

IMAGE UPSCALER

Exactly what it says on the tin. Great in conjunction with the Image Resizer. This is one of the better upscalers that I've found with no fluff and no mess-- it does what it says and lets you get on with your day. Super good if you draw something small, and then need to upscale it for a larger display.

IMAGE COLOR FINDER

Need to know what colors were used in an image you pulled from the web? Look no further! This site displays the exact colors an image uses, which you can then pop into a color picker to tweak to your liking. Especially useful if you have a tendency to forget which hexcodes you've used, like I do.

ONLINE COLOR PICKER

No fluff, no ads, no extraneous materials. Just a straight-up color picker. A lifesaver for web design, and works really well in conjunction with the Image Color Finder.

BLINKIES CAFE

desc

This is kind of a fun one. Here, you can make silly little animated badges to display wherever you want. Here, take this one with you as a reward for checking out my tools!

SCM MUSIC PLAYER

Allows you to set a playlist for your website. I use this on the Captain's Ship to play ship ambiance. Pretty useful, and you can even customize the playbar! If it doesn't show up when you go to your site, refresh or open it in a new tab. It'll work just fine :)

TEXTURE TOWN

Looking for textures? Look no further! Here, you can find a huge directory of textures, with over 3,000 currently hosted on the site!
It also links to a place where you can get some old-school-style gifs, so that's fun. Check this one out! desc

FONT GENERATOR

Generates free fonts from a selection of over 50 fonts. Works on most sites + messaging services (very handy for formatting text on Discord, for example).

BACKGROUND REMOVER

Another one that does exactly as advertised on the tin. It's how I made this picture of my bird (face still censored for security reasons);

PICMIX

Remember Blingee? PicMix functions almost exactly like it. It's a load of fun; go mess around on it. That's an order. (Not really)

MYNOISE

Need background ambiance? Can't fall asleep without the sound of rain? This guy's GOT you. myNoise is run by a single guy, and it has the most incredible collection of sounds I've ever heard. It's definitely worth poking around in there and seeing what you'll find.

COMPARESIZES, THE MEASURE OF THINGS, AND PECTIVE

These are such helpful visual tools for figuring out how big something will be relative to other things. Or just figuring out how big something will be in general. They all serve functionally the same purpose and are honestly best used together to get something SUPER accurate.

BURNING TEXT LOGO GENERATOR

This one's just fun. It generates more than just burning text; you can make all sorts of fonts and fucked up gifs on here. Like this one.

MSDOS GAMES

Less of a tool and more of an incredible resource for playing old games. You've got Doom on here. You've got Strip Poker on here. You've got Super Mario on here. Who else has the range? Who else has the power? Nobody but the Internet Archive. I tried playing the Hobbit and got stuck in a dark hole for fifteen minutes. The only thing that changed was that occasionally Thorin would show up and stand there silently. Great experience, 10/10.
